My point is that a portugal fan hurls a beer in the air and

its presented as a harmless, celebratory gesture. England fans do it and they are "hurling bottles at portugues fans and police."

Leaving aside for a moment the fact that hurling a drink into a crowd of drunk people is quite incendiary at the best of times (even in celebration), if you listen to the accounts of England fans out there on social media they say that the main incident started when Portuguese fans started throwing bottles at England fans. It may be that celebratory acts were misinterpreted but even by the Guardian account there appears to be a semblance of truth to it.

Once again I am not saying all our fans out there are angels. there are clearly large numbers who have gone there for a p**s up who I suspect are behaving as they do in Magaluf or Aya Napa in the summer holidays!
