Think you make a very good point about anti EU sentiment potentially increasing
Having voted to remain myself, not just because I live in France but for many other reasons, I would obviously be keen on anything that might turn the situation around and prevent Brexit.
However, here's a thing, despite being pro EU I am royally pissed off not just with our own politicians (on all sides) but also with the way the EU have behaved since the vote, most of all in the way they've failed to be clear about poeple's rights, those of EU citizens in the UK and vice versa but also the disdain they show for us all by, for example, tweeting metphors about cake instead of telling us what we want to hear.
I keep hearing people tell me that if we had the vote again Remain would win convincingly, I am not so sure. I am not saying I would vote Leave but I for one am more anti-EU than I was before I voted. I don't think I am the only one.
The really interesting thing for me is that two years ago, many people I know here had deep resentment for the EU and its bloated bureaucracy, they thought they'd get their chance to vote too, but now they've changed their minds about that and having seen the f**k up we have made of it simplty want the status quo to continue.
By the way, when it comes to Theresa May, seeing as that was how this discussion started, I never liked her before and still don't, but like others have said, I think she's doing a pretty decent job in almost impossible circumstances, but then part of the problem is of course of her own making by holding that unnecessary election. None of the other parties have covered themselves in glory before, during or after the referendum or election so some of the criticism is a little unmerited I feel.
