Thats the problem though isn;t it. people just vote on party lines regardless of who the

candidate is.

In my experiences many of the best candidates (in terms of the effort they will put in and having roots in their communities) are liberal democrats but they don't get voted in because nationally the party is seen as a bit of a joke.

I bet hardly anyone votes for Rees Mogg himself, they just vote conservative.
