an example of how things could go badly wrong and the fact is that next season they could well be playing at the same level as us, no doubt floating around the same part of the table as us.

We on the other hand, having done everything the "correct way" by avoiding evil foreign owners would not in reality be any better off for it.

Pompey fans have had a few tough years (although i suspect initially they probably quite enjoyed league 1 etc like we did) but before that they had 7 straight prem seasons, reached 2 FA Cup Finals and won the FA Cup.

Would you take a few seasons in the lower leagues in return for seeing your side win the FA Cup? Tough call and I suspect that fans would be split on that one but it does seem to me that seeing your side win the FA Cup is one of the best things any football fan can experience and something to tell the grandkids about. Not sure that they will be quite so interested in the year we managed to stay up in the premier league under Chris Hughton.
