Hughton

I always chuckle at the response to meca and pants on this. Because they're right - and have been proven so, repeatedly, by what's happened to us since he left, and what's happened to him since he left.

Hughton took Brighton over when they were 21st in the Championship. Tonight, they stand 14th in England: an improvement of 27 league places, despite having the second lowest wage bill in the division.

Before his appointment, when were Brighton last in the top division? 1983. He's probably the best manager in their history, having already finished 11th with us on a similarly low wage bill. Yet STILL there are people who slag him off on here. It's astounding.

You know the real reason why so many Norwich fans (including myself for a considerable time - I'm ashamed of myself, looking back) turned against him? Arrogance. Plain and simple. We had the breathtaking arrogance to believe that not only should we be in the Premier League despite not having the resources to sustain that; but we should be watching sexy football too. Well that's gone really well, hasn't it?

He's a terrific manager and a total gentleman. Good luck to him and his club. And I must say: life watching the most mid-table, mediocre, mundane Norwich side since the late 1990s is so, so much more fun than beating Manchester United and Arsenal. What a sad bunch of losers Brighton clearly are. I'm so happy we got rid of him.
