Yup. Road cycling is a (continental) European sport at heart

(because bike racing was banned on British roads from the late 19th century until the 1950s - which basically killed it as a sport here)

So people interested in bike racing - which is where mamilness comes from, at source - always strived to fit in with that European ethos. Hence km.

Give it a try, anyway. Can honestly say that getting into recreational cycling changed my life, psychologically as well as physically, almost entirely for the better. (And changed my body shape, too, also for the better...)
