but not every club has several of their highest earners contributing next to nothing to the team - whether they are fit or not. And the clubs that do are in no position to get promoted - because they have also been mis-managed.

That is the clear problem with our current financial position. We have to sell useful players like Murphy and Howson, and buy relatively cheap replacements, because we can't shift these useless high earners.
