what is wrong with our 'current financial position'?
We spend what we earn.
The two alternatives are:
the Oyston model; earn 50 mill and spend 10 mill
the Ridsdale (Chase) model; earn 10 mill and spend 50 mill.
After a mid-table finish in the PL the club were bound to start looking for recruits that were not from Colchester or Shrewsbury.
