Let's imagine that Grant Holt did his cruciate in the autumn of 2009. This would likely have derailed the Lambert-express and any medium-term stay in Div 3 would have fundamentally changed how we view the owners, the Board, McNally and Lambert (and remember that Lambert recruited only 7 of that D3-winning squad)
Another example would be Martin Edwards, son of a butcher with no real experience of football (or indeed life itself). Edwards presided over the rebirth of the Man Utd dynasty and yet came close to selling the club (to the clown known as Michael Knighton) two years before the Prem gravy-train arrived.
