The River End transition is slow, still full of people like me, same seat for years
In the part where I sit, (Lower, central, top half of the tier) it is still mainly adults, including a significant number of older fans. I may give up in the next couple of years but the turnover is very slow. Most of the seats around me are the same people for the last 10 years or so.
On the wider issues, the River End is accused of being a library but we do get involved, particularly in the second half, though only if the team give us something - doesn't have to be much - a run from Pinto, a shot from Murphy, we will react to anything at our end of the ground. What we don't do is sing. I have been to lots of Southampton and QPR matches over the years and it was no different there, only a small part of the ground sings.
What I have noticed recently is that the singers need a kick to get going. Used to be, not so long ago, that the response to going a goal down was a chorus of On The Ball City, now it is silence. Perhaps that's something the groups trying to get atmosphere back might start with. That does catch on round the ground (though in more than 50 years of going to football -cue Jumbo- I've never been a singer myself).
