I feel exactly the same as you are suggesting

I'm very suspicious of it all and I'm gonna retreat to the safest place I can judge/am in control of

I can't stop the things she says, but I can contain 'getting on with her'

So I'm not going to raise it as an issue and continue to focus on the things I can control
