on the flip side, having an open vacancy

will make conversations with in-work managers that much more fruitful.

'Our client is possibly thinking about changing manager (but theyre not really sure just yet), can we have a chat about your possible interest, y'know just in case they do actually have such a vacancy at some point in the indeterminate future?'

vs

'As you'll be aware our client now has a managerial vacancy. Do you want to have an informal chat about it?

How many times to do you give a recruitment consultant the time of day, let alone permit yourself to be put forward for the role, if they are just fishing for speculative jobs?
