I think he's just learned from the experience

He's a good manager. Just reached his the limit if his (then) competence with us. I'm sure he'll have reflected on his time here and thought long and hard about what he could have done differently, and he'll be a better manager for it now.

We all learn by our mistakes, don't we? I'm sure Neil will go on to be a better manager elsewhere but I suspect he has reached his limit here for various reasons. Must be tough as a manager trying to convince a team that, despite having been relegated with you, *this time* you have the right tactics and answers. So much easier to do that at another club with a different set of players.

I know as an employee that after a time, if your manager isn't doing the business, whatever they say will not convince you that they are suddenly going to turn it around. It's Peter & the Wolf.
