but it is in line with the rules. If I'd known all along that getting in the CL was dependent on a team outside top 4 not winning the CL I'd have known where we stood. The situation was discussed a few months ago along with the possibility that Everton would lose "their" place if Liverpool won CL so Everton would have been aware of it ages ago. The problem has only arisen because the FA went against their own previously stated rules to guarantee Everton a place. Thtas why the Everton-Liverpool qualifying game is the ideal solution. Everton get what they thought they were getting (a CL qualifying game - all they are entitled to) and Liverppol get a deserved chance to defend the trophy. And it guarantees there cannot be more than 4 English teams in the competition proper (thereby sticking to UEFA's clearly stated rules)
