Eastern European countries were not part of a 'sphere of influence', they were under direct Moscow control.

Putin is absolutely not trying to defend Russian interests or shore up against some perceived vulnerability. He is empire building.

How are the media reporting Russian activities in our airspace? In the context of the wider activities of Putin and the Kremlin. How else would you like them to report it?
