I've never been to the Lake District.

But I love The Peaks. The caverns, Kinder Scout, Mam Tor, Buxton, Eyam and Hathersage are all worth checking out. Plus, if you want to nip back to civilisation both Manchester and Sheffield are close.
The Lakes do look lovely too though.
