Personally, myself, I would stay fairly quiet for a few weeks
That way you can suss out people and work out the others who are sussing you out
You'll probably find many of the first people who approach you, are probably the morons. Some people are just nice straight away, but in general, the people being super nice first are the dicks
Also, if you are quiet at first, and then become friendlier later when you think you've worked everyone out, that order of events isn't hard. They'll just think you were quiet and now you've settled. Turn it round for a second
Imagine if you're nice at first, and then you need to get rid of someone who's pissing you off. You'll go from being pleasant to politely trying to bin them off. They'll see the change in your behaviour, and they're right to, because you have, and then you may encounter them being difficult with you back, because they want to know why you're not chums anymore
But, if you were quiet from day one, they can't do that, and if you're quiet with them in future, they've always known you were like that
Just my advice anyway, you can send a message to bellends early doors by just lacking any interest. Just think of the others who are doing this as well, they'll be the ones you be glad to be mates with later :)
