For a change of pace: Starting a new job in Monday, 3 hours away from home.

After 7 years searching I've finally managed to get a full time job related to my University degree. Problem is it's based in a town 3 hours away.

I'd be very tempted to commute every day if I thought my car could handle it (I know I can) but will spend time in the closest Travelodge until I find the right flat or room to rent.

Anyone got tips on how to actually make friends at work or in the area? Anything else you might recommend for this situation?
