Wigan's approach to the cups has been no different to ours

you start off playing 'sub-strength' teams in the early rounds and play progressively stronger teams as the competition progresses.

Just because our non-full-strength team contrived to get knocked out by Luton while theirs progressed doesn't mean their approach was any different (emphasising the point further, they did get knocked out of the Capital One Cup by a League Two team).

Football matches are generally decided by very small margins, and yet it never ceases to amaze me how people make sweeping generalisations about attitude & approach based on results. In this case, Wigan won the FA Cup and we didn't therefore their approach to the competition must have been different to ours. It wasn't - only the result was different.
