Initially people were saying "its all very well them reporting it now, why didn't they when he was doing these things?"

They did-but their credibility was crushed-they were put off, warned it would be futile, were even aware themselves that it would have been futile. You wonder just how long his shady tendrils were and who he had "looking out for him".

So they had to suffer and know, in silence, because it was Jimmy Saville. FFS! Not that it would have been any more credible if it had been some revered actor o0r philanthropist behind it, but what did he ever do, TV wise?

I guess it was a perceived threat to the income that his charitable work (means to an end or an attempt to assage guilt?) that did the trick and provided the protective barrier-if he gets reported then all that money for xyz is gone forever, "...and it'll be because of you..." kind of thing.

And was it just him-or was there a gang of them, a ring?

Hideous stuff.
