Fair enough. I just don't see the connection.
I think your opinion would have been reasonable if you would have disconnected the two points.
It's fine to say that Holloway acted like a dick, he probably did. I am not disputing anything you wrote.
I am sure it is 100% true.
But it's not fine to say Holloway acated like a dick so therefore he probably deserves to be charged for something totally unlrelated to that incident.
Thats almost crazy street justice in itself.
If he behaved in a threatening or yobbish manner then he should be charged for that, if it merits any charges?
Did he do anything that was actionable by a British court of law?
Lets be honest here, the media loves the fact that Holloway is such a loose cannon.
When he goes off the handle at others it's great copy and its just loveable olly being olly
When he goes off at jounalists he is now Hitlers nephew............hmmmm.
Your point about team selection is valid but should have been in a totally seperate context.
I personally don't agree that this situation is the same as those who field weakened sides at the end of the season or the Wolves side who clearly threw in the towel.
I think it can be legitimately argued that he did put out a strong side againist Villa.
As I already stated, the rules are so vague as to be laughable/childish.
Again I ask the question, do they charge him again if he makes another 6-10 changes at the weekend?
What if he makes only 2-3 changes?
Who is deciding who his strongest side is?
If players have played recently then unrested players of slightly less ability may be his strongest team on that night.
What is the point of the 25 man squad rule if you can't play those players as you wish?
I could totally understand if a team went to the youth ranks outside of the 25 but in this case he brought in players that were in a lot of cases as experienced as those they replaced.
The way they played and the fact they were highly competitive suggest he was not pulling a wolves but using his full 25 man squad.
If we cant make the case that his team was NOT significantly weakened by making the changes then he has no case to answer..........It's that simple.
When the big clubs rotate their squads for cup matches or European matches we all swoon at their tactical genius.
My final point is about fairness.
You can't charge people for breaking rules they don't know about.
The PL need to be more specific with their rules.
In the FL they have specific rules about fielding loan players, how many you can have in the squad and how many you can use on a matchday.
If the PL are overly concerned they need to state that barring injuries/availability you can only make X amount of changes for the next match.
What if a manager is totally unhappy with his team and wants to make wholesale changes in the next game?
Again I ask if 10 changes is too much and say 3 changes doesn't get a second look.......... where is the line?
