Mick Dennis wrong?
I often am, about lots of things.
As you suggest, my anger with Holloway was caused by his intemperate attitude to journalists. He reacted like a yob in response to a legitimate question from Ian Danter of talkSPORT -- an organisation which pays for broadcasting rights, and so helps fund Holloway's mob.
I think Holloway can defend his team selection. But he should do so without demeaning someone who had lobbed him a gentle question. He should also do so without threatening to pour coffee over anyone from the Premier League who asked him about his team selection or saying the PL would have to go to him because he would not be going to them (if charged). There was also his puerile threat to resign if Blackpool are punished.
I think he was using the Harry Redknapp defence -- use so much bluster that the authorities dare not act.
That way lies anarchy.
The Premier League have to ask Holloway to explain his selection, in fairness to the other teams fighting against relegation. If they are not satisfied with his explanation, he should be charged. He can then contest the charge.
Wolves -- and as a City fan, I detest them, of course, for employing Kevin Muscat -- were given a suspended ?25,000 fine for running up the white flag at Old Trafford. So there is not a lot of stake in terms of punishments.
Holloway has had very strong support from the media (including me) and needs to be a lot less belligerent when things get a tad difficult for a change. And I have stopped falling for his "Oi'm new to this division and still learning" schtick. He has been a manager for about 700 games.
