Schteve's only doing it because he loves Otto and wants to defend him

Which I quite understand; I love Otto too

Also, Schteve is rather insecure and can't take criticism himself, so he transposes this onto Otto and imagines that Otto must be really upset by any literary criticism. He therefore rushes to defend Otto (as above). But Otto has a much thicker skin.

And although Schteve wrongly conflates the degree of proof-reading appropriate to a match report and to a WOTB message, he does actually have a fair point that if one is going to write a critique of someone else's writing, one ought to tidy up that critique before pressing "submit"
