Red Card tackles

What about that horror tackle by Lee Carsley on Chris Iwelumo on Monday night? It could have crippled him, finished his career or put him out of the game for months. In my opinion that tackle was pre-mediated as there was an incident a couple of minutes earlier between the two where Carsley and Iwelumo jumped for a header and Carsley came off second best, looking very aggrieved and rubbing his head.

Luckily for them both Iwelumo was ok.

Victor Anichebe, victim of Kevin Nolan?s red-card assault was not so lucky ? he?ll be back next season.

When will the FA start imposing proper penalties for career threatening tackles? Or banning a player for as long as it takes the other player to recover, up to a maximum of a certain number of games or time period?

Nolan will be back (or maybe already is) well before Anichebe. Doesn?t seem right to me
