Question to the board...

...the following is very much abridged - question at the end:

- 7 weeks ago work started on our bathroom. 7 weeks later:
- We have a tiles on the floor - one spit and others with deep scraps in
- New window - damaged on installation
- Toilet - not secured to the wall properly
- Bath - mastic not applied properly
- No sink (was to have bespoke cabinet) - being fitted tomorrow
- Bath panels (was to have bespoke) - being fitted tomorrow
- No door (was to have been bespoke)
- No skirting
- No door frame
- Dodgy plaster in places
- And other stuff too - we're not happy...

He's a nice bloke on the whole but is clearly treating us as a part time job whilst he works on bigger projects...

We've called him in, given him snag lists, emailed and phoned and finally got him to commit to finishing the project tomorrow as the end date - this was two weeks ago...

Today he called to say he can't do the door, it appears he never could but he'll do the cabinet and bath panels...

We've emailed him and said do that and then you're off the project listing all the stuff he hasn't done and that he informed us today he can't do the door. My wife wrote the mail and it was business like and fair...

We've told him to reevaluate his invoice and come back to us with what he thinks is a fair final bill. In the meantime we'll have to get quotes again for all the stuff he hasn't done and compare that against what he comes back with...

My questions is this: could this get legal and if so are we within our rights to do this and taken to court/have legal procedures taken out against us? We just want to get someone to finish it and move on...
