I know someone who's going to get a laptop soon, and I know they're not going to use it for anything else but emailing and internet, and wanting to use software for searching family history, and I just know they're going to come back with a ?500 laptop (or more)

What's even more infuriating, is how much they think they've been sold the right model for "what they need it for", like these things are custom made like getting a suit fitted

I'm sure it's a keeping up with the jones mentality, "yes I've got this, and it's got 4gb, and 300gb", "oh, well mines got 500gb of hard drive"

"oh"

"what have you got saved on it so far?"

"erm some albums and pictures"

"same here, I wonder if I should have got a 500gb hard drive too, I'm a bit worried now"
