Really compelling though, I think.

Thing is sprinting and (mountain) climbing are almost completely different sports, really. So they're not competing with each other at all.

The guy who wins the yellow jersey won't really have played much part in most of the stages like today's. He'll have just been sitting in the pack watching while the sprinters like Cavendish fight it out for the glory of stage wins.

Once they get into the Alps, then the sprinters will disappear from the picture (some of them - Cavendish included - will proably drop out altogether). It'll be a different kind of race then, as the battle for the yellow jersey gets decided.

Cavendish is definitely the man of the race so far. Which is pretty unheard of for a Britisher.
