Gym help

I need to lose weight. I'm going to start running one day and doing light weights more reps. Does anyone kno how light the weights should be when you do light ones and ho many reps. Also, any advice about ho to avoid eating rubbish foods would be appreciated, alsays eat rubbish things and cant help myself! Thanks !
