Which is where I think the board were remiss

I don't expect them to be able to judge a player's ability, I think it not unreasonable for them to ask the manager what his transfer strategy is. In the particular case of Andy Hughes we paid (following on from Doncaster's comments a while back on Safri) £1 million for a player who was so similar to one we had signed a month before that they could not be played together. That was clearly ludicrous when there were clearly problems elsewhere in the squad (right wing, centre back) that could not then be properly addressed. Indeed we STILL haven't sorted out centre back.
THere is nothing about Worthington that suggests he is competant to manage a budget of millions yet that is what we let him do.
