if I buy I bigger house and increase my mortgage..

I am increasing my debt. As long as I can afford the repayments surely i am not mismanaging my finances? The debt doesn't matter. We did not need to sell players this season to break even. Most clubs in our position i.e. losing the parachute payments would not be in that position.
The board can't win. By being ambitious and prividing resources for the team they are moaned at for teh debt. But those same serial moaners are the same ones who complain about the board's lack of ambition. If you want to attract quality players to a club you have to meet their terms. If you don't want release clauses then easy - settle for old no-hope players.

The staged payment thing works both ways - we only paid Crewe for Ashton in staged payments for example. It is normal football practice for cashflow reasons.
