I'm sure that this board always had it under control

We have a good mix of football and business people - looking at what is happening now, you can see that selection of transfer targets is being left to the manager entirely, which is how it should be.

Grant has given the board a list of players he wants, and they handle the financial side of things. We're only going to sign someone if it's the right player at the right price. Looking at the players we've signed, they are decent players at this level; put a few more in there and we'd certainly be a good team in this league. And we're not going to be paying out huge wages - we've got Earnie off the books now, and there won't be many more on big wages now (Hucks probably the only one now, and Marshall will probably be one too). The players we've got in are generally stepping up and therefore less likely to command huge salaries (unlike Earnshaw who we had to give a big incentive to join). Lappin and Fotheringham are good examples of this - and if they can get used to the Championship then they could be good signings.
