When we had Robert Chase in charge, refusing to let the manager do his thing, selling off players and not re-investing in the team, we were within 24 hours of bankruptcy.

I agree that the board took far to long to realise that Worthy had to go - but they had to make a decision on whether to give him full backing or get rid of him. If they merely kept him on but gave no financial backing then we could blame the board. As it was, it was absolutely clear-cut that Worthington had been given the resources to succeed and there were no excuses for our failure beyond his control.

It was of course the wrong decision to keep him on for so long - they should have sacked him earlier, but at least they made that decision and stayed true to it, even up to the point of signing Dion Dublin. But when they realised that it wasn't going to turn around, they made it clear and took action.
