Worthy was allowed to continue buying & loaning expensive players until, basically, the money ran out. Then he was sacked. Which cost another £600k. The board have to take *some* responsibility for blindly accepting that the manager always knows best - not only playing-wise, which is fair enough; but also fiscally. The manager is *not* responsible for the financial well-being of the club - the board is.
