And who's to say they wont spend more money elsewhere - possibly not on helicopters, which might also have invaluable peacetime usage; but probably on the latest smart weaponage from our good friends in the US.
Or waste it on privatising things like the defence procurement agency.
Or on even more madcap-bound-to-fail-IT-systems
One thing you can rely on (especially with New Labour) is that they will piss money away on something pretty useless, but off balance sheet.
