I have a chum who is a naval officer and has just finished a stint as a Professor of Modern Warfare at a US military academy. He is of the view (and I agree) that the only states likely to be mad enough to use a nuke at the moment and for the foreseeable future are the North Koreans (who've been bought off by the Japs) and various mad mullahs/Israelis.
We don't need nukes.
On the other hand, for as long as we whizz around the world trying to intervene in other states, we DO need troops, armoured vehicles, helicopters, and battefield armaments. And you could do a f**king good job with half of what New Trident is going to cost.
And do any of the ex-CND activitists seize the chance? Or do any of the opposition? Do they f**k.
