Spent on fixed assets, and off-the-pitch activity...

... With a view to creating sturdy foundations for a long stay in the top flight when (not if, when) we stayed up? That's my suspicion, anyway. Which is understandable, but very, very risky - and when we didn't stay up, it set in motion the chain of events which have led to where we are now.

Whisper it, but there's a heck of a lot of parallels between the fallout now, and that following relegation under Chase too: for understandable, 'big picture' reasons, both boards spent too much on non-footballing activities - and both were left exposed when things didn't turn out as expected on the park.
