We are, yes...
Pathetically thin squad, and loads of injuries (including long-term ones to two very key players). FWIW, I think we'll both be ok: I currently have us both ending up on 52 points, actually. But then, as someone on TWTD (where I don't go often, but I was bored the other night, beginning to worry about our prospects, and curious what rival fans thought: that, and I wanted to see the reaction on there to what happened at Watford: sorry, old habits die hard) justifiably said, at least you more or less expected to be in this sort of position last summer. I'd imagine Ipswich fans' expectations for this season were at their lowest since the Duncan era: correct?
Whereas in our case, to be in this position less than 2 years after relegation (and with no appearance of having done a Leeds, or anything like it) is both inexplicable and disgraceful. Plus, I suspect you're a bit ahead of us now off the field: I know your debts are a lot bigger, but you've bitten the bullet and fielded a cheap, young side this year which should, I suspect, gradually get better. We haven't even reached that point yet - but with the end of our parachute payments looming, it looks likely in my view.
Incidentally, when was the last time BOTH major East Anglian teams were so bad? Must be over 40 years ago, I reckon... It's seriously depressing - and whereas your longer-term emergence in the 70s, and our improvement at a similar time, happened at the same time as older, traditional clubs like Preston or Bolton going downhill, now the reverse seems to be happening. A number of clubs in the north west are doing really well; but down in Anglia (and Colchester excepted: is there a more over-achieving club in the whole country at the moment?), it's all pretty pathetic, frankly.
