I think you could be right.

Remember that very few, if any, members of this board had any experience of having a large amount of cash to spend. So it wouldn't really be that surprising that the money was spent with not only good intentions, but also with a sense of what they were doing was right, yet with hindsight was misguided.

I certainly think it's a factor of the malaise.
