This is entirely valid

It could be argued that the Academy (at heartbreaking expense) has had the exact opposite effect to that intended.
Before it existed we had a flourishing youth system which generated out millions of pounds worth of talent. Now we can barely produce a player good enough to be a sub for a mid-table Championship team.
