For those getting broadband, don't get Tiscali
I did (obviously) and when I moved house I submitted a web form (you can?t do it on the phone) to request that the service was moved to my new address. They say it takes a maximum of 5 to 10 working days to do change, which is fair enough.
I waited the 2 weeks, and still nothing. So I phoned them and waited in the phone queue for ages. The customer services were about as useful as a poo-flavoured lollipop and they put me through to technical to wait even longer. Technical said that they?ve never received the request (even though I have the confirmation e-mail). They say that the only thing they can do is put the order in again ? only it will take 15 days for it to happen.
I queried the difference between what they say and what their website says, and they said that the website is wrong ? pretty poor for a web-based company / ISP.
Anyway I phoned customer services again to see if they could do anything as I?d end up waiting 25 working days (5 weeks) for my broadband to be switched, and they said they can?t do anything. I said in that case I?ll just cancel my account and get a new ISP. So I phone the cancellation line, but all you get is a message saying ?We?re very busy etc? and then it cuts you off ? no phone queue there. So you basically can?t cancel your account.
Upshot of it all is that I?ve basically got to bend over and take it from them ? and in the meantime I?m stuck using dial-up for internet access. All the more annoying considering I'm a home-based worker and I'm facing 5 weeks of dial-up bills.
