a very welcome addition this year
french partridges. got a regular pair who feed off of dropped grain from the birdfeeders. they make the weirdest bird call and if the dog or i disturb them they comically run off down the garden like roadrunner and duck under the little gate i put in the fence to cordon off the bottom garden to stop the grandson getting access to the pond.
couple of times they have come into the conservatory when the doors are open.
the farmer that owns the field behind us has wildflowered it for the last couple of years and doesn't crop it anymore which is nice as it's lovely to look at and the deer seek refuge in it and pop over my hedge at night to drink from the pond.
