The US is an outlier

We map pretty closely with European countries, but have hiked taxes to pay down debt rather than improve services (in contrast to European countries).

I guess it all has to be seen in the light of our economy being less buffered than the larger & nested economies of the US & EU.

Nevertheless, we're not doing badly (at a country level, if not at a man on the street level), and have recently rejoined the top 5 GDPwise, overtaking india who we'd dropped behind in 2024.
