To illustrate my point....

Life expectancy at birth for a 65 year old male would be 79.9.

However, once that same person has made it to 65, their life expectancy is 84.3.

So you would expect a footballer (having survived 20+ years already) to have a higher life expectancy than the general population at birth.

And I guess being fit and not overweight through their playing career, it stands to reason that they would also have a higher life expectancy compared to the general population at the same age.

The 100 year old stat is therefore surprising.
