it makes life difficult for offside traps.

I have never liked the fact that you could be penalised for something done by someone else.

A striker (Henry in this case) could be standing in a legal onside position and then find himself offside not because of anything he has done but because the defenders have all sprinted up as a unit to leave him there. If you make a badly timed run fair enough, but I don't like seeing defenders allowed to entrap players (its no better than forwards deliberately dragging their feet to try and induce contact with a keeper and gain a penalty). The new rule makes it harder to play the offsoide trap and I think that is great. Spain last night concenbrtrated their whole efforts on catching one single player offside and got deservedly punished by a different player who they had ignored. Any rule that didn't make that possible (by treating Henry as being offside in that situation) would be a disgrace.
