And another difference with NFL or MLB

is that football has only one break at half time, other than the occasional injury or very short set piece stoppages. Therefore a football crowd is intense in its attention to the game.

In NFL, and in MLB, it has short bursts of intense activity with breaks in between, so the spectator has time to appreciate side activities going on around them. Did you know that an NFL game, which takes about 3 to 3.5 hours, yet has 60 minutes on the game clock, comprises of about 11 to 18 minutes of actual gameplay?

Football really cannot be borrowing from those experiences. Maybe cricket could.
