I thought Matteson got better as the game went on but an clear problem we've had in

many games is Topic coming to receive the ball from the centre backs, being pressed and having the ball taken off him.

He is clearly not that type of midfielder or able to do that. Conversely, he looks great in the few moments when he really picks up the pace and surges forward. Which suggests he's not playing in the right role.
