I think if he had been in midfield, Jim would have said he is clearly a

defender playing in midfield.

He is just reeeeeeally slow, and doesn't seem to realise it. So he happily goes jaunting up into midfield and beyond, without a care in the world about a potential foot race which he will get absolutely skinned on.

But having said that, that is also a system thing. If he has the freedom to do that then fine, as long as one of the midfielders then drops in behind him. But they don't.

So I also have to wonder whether he is just undisciplined and lacks self awareness, or whether part of the issue are other team mates who are not being disciplined in covering him.
