The second half of that piece is so absurdly one eyed

Because it focuses only on Trump.

Trump is, obviously, a user of inflammatory rhetoric. But he is not alone. Democrats have been relentlessly comparing Republicans to Nazis for years and that has consequences.

Just a very simple Google search brings up the following examples, I’m sure there are lots of others.

During the 2011 health care reform debates, Steve Cohen said the Republican claim of a “government takeover of health care” was “a big lie just like Goebbels. … The Germans said enough about the Jews … and eventually, people believe it. … We heard … government takeover of health care.”

In 2019, Elizabeth Warren and Beto O’Rourke both called Trump a white supremacist. Warren said he had “done everything he can to stir up racial conflict and hatred.”

In 2020 Jim Clyburn compared unwavering Republican support for Donald Trump to how Nazi Germany supported Adolf Hitler. He expressed concern that Republicans were “bowing to Trump” in a way that reminded him of how people allowed Hitler to rise and consolidate power.

At the launch of his 2024 re-election campaign (January 2024), Biden accused Trump of using rhetoric that he said “echoed the same exact language used in Nazi Germany.”

On October 24, 2024, Kamala Harris said she believed Donald Trump “is a fascist.” She was responding to comments from John Kelly, a former Trump chief of staff, who said Trump praised Hitler in some ways and placed loyalty over the Constitution.

In February 2025, in his State of the State / budget speech, JB Pritzker (Governor of Illinois) warned: “It took the Nazis one month, three weeks, two days, eight hours and 40 minutes to dismantle a constitutional republic.” During a state budget address, he explicitly compared some of the Trump administration’s policy approaches to those of Nazi Germany.

In April 2025, Al Gore gave a speech at San Francisco Climate Week during which he compared elements of the Trump administration’s rhetoric/actions to those of early Nazi Germany. He emphasized how authorities try to reshape reality, use propaganda, and manipulate truth — repeating lessons learned from the rise of Nazism. He prefaced by saying he knows “why it is wrong to compare Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich to any other movement … but there are important lessons …”

The point is that inflammatory rhetoric is a problem on BOTH sides
