Or at least some of the problem is that populists offer simple solutions to complicated issues. And that appeals to those who lap up the Telegraph/Mail/Express/Sun narrative. Also interesting that Labour should have sorted this out in a little over a year when the Tories spent 14 years creating the issue. Personally I think Labour have introduced some good policies, but their messaging and communications have been monumentally s**te. ID cards would be a good start. Can’t wait to see how the ‘patriots’ react to that!
