I’m baffled, what does the word “deliberate” mean then if it doesn’t require intent?

Natural position just means bullet point two isn’t relevant and the only test is whether he deliberately handled the ball. If his arm were in an unnatural position, it would be deemed deliberate whether it was or it wasn’t.

As I said above, fair enough if the ref thinks he deliberately handled it as that’s the offence. As I look at it, I don’t see someone deliberately handling the ball, he’s gone to block it with his body and it’s hit his arm, and on the letter of the law, that’s not handball. Maybe it’s applied differently to how the law is written , and again, fair enough if it is, so long as it’s consistently applied.
